Dental Pearls was created by Irina Dragan, DDS, MS, aiming to offer additional study material for peers preparing for the Board. Colleagues from universities across the United States and beyond have contributed cases, reviews and supporting references to the platform. We are dental professionals interested in making learning easier for everyone and accessible at every moment.
The increased emphasis on clinical competence in dental education and the advances in technology create wonderful opportunities for learning outside the clinic.
Our solution is a mobile application that:
- Presents clinical cases with a step-by-step treatment sequence supported by intraoral images, integrated with the appropriate exam questions, references, graphics and reviews
- Offers reviews of the most important topics
- Compiles a database with the Pubmed references supported by professional associations in the field, such as American Academy of Periodontology, etc.
- Challenges with integrated basic sciences and clinical sciences questions
The Clinical Cases cover the work-up order for diagnosis, etiology, prognosis, treatment plan, therapy and maintenance in a consistent format that is easy to follow and learn, and that will be useful for Board exams.
Every case is presented in depth, follows the comprehensive treatment approach supported by the latest research with the highest level of evidence, and features the most modern techniques and products.
Integration with key concepts (e.g. basic science) promotes true comprehension and analysis, as opposed to memorization.
Our reviews offer a synopsis on key topics, incorporating concepts highlighted by the American Academy of Periodontology and references (position papers, statements, parameters of care) and classical and recent studies with increased number of citations.
We launched with the Periodontology section, but our goal is to keep expanding the content, adding more cases, questions, reviews and articles, and to cover more specialties. We aim to offer full coverage of the dental curriculum at high academic standards as well as diverse and rare cases, and complex treatments unavailable elsewhere. Our questions will span various levels of difficulty (predoctoral, postgraduate, eligible periodontist, certified periodontist).
